ACORN...Again!

Last September I did some research on ACORN & their ties with Obama. Shortly after I wrote the article (below) lots of articles surfaced about ACORN and voter fraud in the 2008 elections.

Now the House Dems "stimulus package" includes big bucks for... you guessed it ACORN!

House Republican Leader John Boehner reported:

The Democrat's Job Creation" Bill Offers Taxpayer-Funded Bonanza for Organization Reportedly Under Federal Investigation

Washington, Jan 23 - The House Democrats’ trillion dollar spending bill, approved on January 21 by the Appropriations Committee and headed to the House floor next week for a vote, could open billions of taxpayer dollars to left-wing groups like the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). ACORN has been accused of perpetrating voter registration fraud numerous times in the last several elections; is reportedly under federal investigation; and played a key role in the irresponsible schemes that caused a financial meltdown that has cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars since last fall.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and other Republicans are asking a simple question: what does this have to do with job creation? Are Congressional Democrats really going to borrow money from our children and grandchildren to give handouts to ACORN in the name of economic “stimulus?”

Incredibly, the Democrats’ bill makes groups like ACORN eligible for a $4.19 billion pot of money for “neighborhood stabilization activities.” Funds for this purpose were authorized in the Housing and Economic Recovery Act, signed into law in 2008. However, these funds were limited to state and local governments. Now House Democrats are taking the unprecedented step of making ACORN and other groups eligible for these funds:

For a further additional amount for ‘Community Development Fund,’ $4,190,000,000, to be used for neighborhood stabilization activities related to emergency assistance for the redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes as authorized under division B, title III of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (Public Law 110–289), of which—

“(1) not less than $3,440,000,000 shall be allocated by a competition for which eligible entities shall be States, units of general local government, and nonprofit entities or consortia of nonprofit entities[.]”

“(2) up to $750,000,000 shall be awarded by competition to nonprofit entities or consortia of nonprofit entities to provide community stabilization assistance […]”
The House Democrats’ trillion dollar spending bill also includes $1 billion for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. CDBG funds are given by the federal government to state and local governments which often contract with nonprofits for services related to the purpose of the grant.

The following is what I wrote September 2008:
Is your vote in November at risk?

In Washington last week hearings were held jointly by the House Judiciary and Administration’s oversight committee on "Federal, State and Local Efforts to Prepare for the General 2008 Election". James Terry, Chief Public Advocate for the Consumers Rights League testified in regards to ACORN. Terry stated that there is corruption at every level of ACORN including misuse of taxpayer funds and voter fraud. Quoting part of Terry’s testimony: "ACORN routinely says it will clean up its act. Yet, given its decade-long history of voter fraud, embezzlement, and misuses of taxpayer funds, ACORN's pattern of fraud can no longer be dismissed as a series of 'unfortunate events’.” This is no small little community group encouraging people to get out and vote…their budget, according to Terry, is estimated at $110 million dollars. ACORN has been investigated for voter fraud many, many times over the past 10 years and 2008 is no different. Terry testified that “ACORN’s activities have prompted calls for investigations in nearly a dozen states: Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan and North Carolina, with new investigations developing regularly.” Folks, we are talking about trying to register 13 years olds and dead people to vote! Voter fraud could make a huge difference in the outcome of this election.

His testimony is on this website:

Senator Obama has or has had connections with ACORN. According to a Boston Globe article in 2007 Obama represented the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) in a lawsuit against the state of Illinois in 1995 for failing to implement a federal law designed to make it easier for the poor and others to register as voters. There are endless articles on Obama being a trainer for ACORN. I don’t know if these websites are accurate but I have tied him to Citizen’s Services, Inc.
Citizen’s Services, Inc. (CSI) which, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State records I researched, shows CSI and ACORN at the same address. CSI is supposed to be a non-profit community organization. Why then has Obama’s campaign paid CSI over $489,763 in February – May 2008 for staging, sound and lighting? I can understand the “get out to vote” expenditure but the other stuff? Is he lying to the FEC about what the payments to CSI were all about? I personally looked at Obama’s expenditures that are listed on the Federal Election Commission website so I am not taking the word of some blogger. By the way there are nearly 113,000 entries. Obama’s campaign has spent over $391 million dollars so maybe they thought it would easy to bury a few entries to CSI.
